CCTA Update: Access, AI and motor finance – a week in regulation

This week has provided another useful insight into the FCA’s current priorities and direction of travel. One of the most significant developments was the FCA’s announcement of proposals to make it easier for more consumers to access mortgages. The regulator is exploring changes that could improve access for first-time buyers, older borrowers and the self-employed.

CCTA Update: Shaping the future of consumer credit

Access to credit and financial inclusion have been prominent themes in recent weeks, including at the FCA’s Access to Credit Summit, held in partnership with Fair4All Finance, which I attended yesterday. It was encouraging to see growing recognition across policymakers, regulators and stakeholders that financial inclusion cannot be viewed solely through the lens of savings, banking and debt advice.

The FCA has updated its guidance for firms dealing with paused motor finance complaints. This remains an important area for firms involved in motor finance and related activities, particularly as the wider legal and regulatory position continues to evolve.

CCTA Guidance: Non-Financial Misconduct

Non-Financial Misconduct (NFM) requirements come into effect on 1 September 2026. From this date, the FCA expects financial services firms to pay due regard to NFM and have in place adequate policies, procedures and processes to address NFM where it arises.

CCTA Roundtable: Non-Financial Misconduct – last chance

FCA motor finance: Keep going but plan for no scheme
