FCA statement on motor finance commissions

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has confirmed that they will go down the path of an industry-wide redress scheme if they conclude widespread failings in the motor finance market. This is not a surprise, but it is useful to have this confirmed.

We knew this was on its way and were quick to welcome positive progress in a difficult area – particularly as 40% of vulnerable customers do not disclose their situation to their lender or financial provider.

The regulatory landscape for Claims Management Companies (CMCs) is shifting, and we want to ensure you stay ahead of the latest changes. From 1 April 2025, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) will begin charging CMCs a case fee. While this is a positive step, we are seeing CMCs ramp up their activity before the deadline.
