As you may recall, we recently participated in a project led by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) focused on sustainable lending. Some of you were directly involved and may have already received feedback from the FCA.

We are delighted to be joined by Emelie Bratt of the Financial Conduct Authority, who will cover the regulator’s approach to the emerging use of AI within the existing regulatory framework, as well as considerations for firms.

Last week it was good to see the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) release a consultation on compensation interest levels. This is one of several positive changes. This particular proposal relates to the interest applied for the awards from the FOS. The interest element was always meant to compensate for the loss of money over time.

FCA update on possible redress scheme

In March, the FCA confirmed that it would take into account the Supreme Court’s forthcoming judgment when deciding on the next steps. If it concludes that motor finance customers have been disadvantaged due to widespread failings by firms, it will consult on an industry-wide redress scheme.
