The judgment provides welcome clarity in an area that has long been complex and contested, encompassing both motor finance and the broader credit market. The Supreme Court will today deliver its highly anticipated judgment on commissions. It is expected to be a significant ruling, as it will serve as the foundation for the FCA’s future work on a possible redress scheme in motor finance. You will recall that they had suggested they would respond within six weeks of the judgment.
