FCA News: FCA cracks down on illegal promotions and market abuse in first year of new strategy

The FCA led an international crackdown on illegal finfluencer promotions – resulting in three arrests and 650 social media takedown requests. It also secured a combined eleven years in prison for two cases of insider dealing in the first year of its 5-year strategy

FCA Data: FCA publishes Year 1 strategy update and performance metrics

The FCA has published its Year 1 update against its five-year strategy, alongside a number of supporting performance and operational metrics.

  • Operating Metrics: The FCA reports its performance for 2025/26 against 50 operating service metrics. These show how it performs over time in key operational areas.
  • Enforcement Data: This data shows the enforcement action taken by the FCA in 2025/26.
  • SICGO Metrics: This is the third year of the FCA publishing the secondary international competitiveness and growth objective (SICGO) metrics which it agreed to publish following the Treasury’s call for proposals on measuring the success of the secondary objective.

FCA Speech: Showing our workings - solving for growth, risk and trust

Sarah Pritchard, Deputy Chief Executive, gave a speech at a Breakfast Briefing at The Whitehall & Industry Group. She said the FCA operates at a significant scale, and uses data, technology and smarter systems to deliver better outcomes, faster.  She also stated that the regulator must encourage firms to engage with its innovation and pre-application services.

It says the strategy is a positive first step but lacks robust evidence, clear targets, accountability and measurable outcomes, and calls on HM Treasury to publish better data, set firm milestones, and strengthen oversight.
