First-time buyers, older borrowers and the self-employed could find it easier to get a mortgage, as the FCA sets out next steps to help reform the market.

FCA News: FCA letter to Treasury Select Committee (TSC) on motor finance compensation scheme

In a detailed submission to the TSC, FCA Chief Executive Nikhil Rathi defended the proposed motor finance compensation scheme, arguing that it remains the quickest, fairest and most efficient way to deliver compensation. The FCA expressed concern that legal challenges brought by four commercial parties will delay compensation until at least 2027, prolonging uncertainty for both consumers and firms.
