The FCA has reiterated its commitment to supporting innovation and economic growth while maintaining strong consumer protection. In a speech at the MoneyLIVE Summit 2026, David Geale emphasised that the FCA is working to simplify rules and step back where appropriate, while ensuring safeguards remain in place.

The FCA has also launched a quarterly consultation on miscellaneous amendments to its Handbook. In addition, new senior leadership appointments have been announced.

Stepping back, staying safe: a joined-up approach to growth

David Geale, Executive Director, payments and digital finance, and PSR Managing Director gave a speech at the MoneyLIVE Summit 2026, London. He said that the FCA supports growth and innovation, but never at the expense of consumer protection. David added that they are simplifying rules and stepping back where possible, but always with guardrails in place.

FCA announces senior leadership appointments

The FCA has appointed two new senior leaders. Chris Knight will join in July 2026 as Director of Insurance within our Supervision, Policy and Competition (SPC) division. David Lymburn joined the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) on 23 February 2026 as Interim Deputy Managing Director.
