The confidence dividend: Tackling financial crime to strengthen markets

Therese Chambers, Joint Executive Director of Enforcement and Market Oversight, spoke at AFME’s European Compliance and Legal Conference 2025. She said that confidence is the foundation of competitive markets and economic growth. Therese added that tackling financial crime that damages confidence in financial services is an FCA priority.

Regulating for growth: The future is now

Jessica Rusu, FCA Chief Data, Information and Intelligence Officer, delivered a speech at Travers Smith’s Future of Fintech 2025, Merchant Taylors’ Hall. Jessica said innovation and technology are central to the FCA’s strategy to support growth and competitiveness, with initiatives like the Supercharged Sandbox and AI Live Testing helping firms safely experiment and test AI.

Rebalancing risk to facilitate innovation and growth

Kate Collyer, FCA Chief Economist, gave a speech at Warwick Business School, Financial Regulation in Support of the UK’s Growth. She said that smarter regulation is good for growth, adding that the FCA is shifting its approach to risk, giving firms and consumers more space to innovate while still protecting markets.
