The FCA has confirmed it is moving ahead with an industry-wide redress scheme to compensate motor finance customers who were treated unfairly between 2007 and 2024. The accompanying press release can be read here.

Money and Credit statistics – February

The Bank of England (BoE) has published its latest Money and Credit statistics for the month of February. The key figures highlight that:

  • Net mortgage approvals for house purchases increased to 62,600 in February, from 60,200 in January, below an average of around 63,500 over the previous 6-months.
  • Net borrowing of consumer credit by individuals slightly increased to £1.9 billion in February, from £1.8 billion in January, slightly above the previous 6-month average of £1.8 billion.

The Money Charity
Money Statistics published

The Money Charity has published its statistics for March. The figures highlight that:

  • inflation was 3%
  • the average credit card debt per UK household was £2,735 in January
  • the total unsecured debt per UK adult was £4,455
  • the total debt, secured and unsecured, per UK household was £67,350.
