The government has published a report on the progress of the National Cyber Security Strategy, which is running from 2016-2021. The report finds that the UK is significantly better positioned to handle cyber security threats now than it was in 2016. Key achievements include: the establishment of designated cyber specialist teams in law enforcement agencies including the National Crime Agency and the Metropolitan Police; the establishment of Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre at the University of Oxford; and the monthly blocking of over 4.5 million malicious emails, and take-down of over 140,000 phishing sites under the Active Cyber Defence programme.
