Privacy watchdog investigates Klarna marketing emails

Industry News | 14/10/20

Klarna has been reported to the data watchdog for sending unsolicited marketing emails encouraging people to borrow money to buy clothes.

The Swedish online buy-now-pay-later service has more than 8.6 million customers in the UK and leads the deferred payments market, which gives shoppers up to three months to pay for goods they have bought. The Advertising Standards Authority is already investigating Klarna over claims that its marketing pushes young people into debt without warning them of the risks involved.
