The Bank of England published its latest monthly statistics on the amount of, and interest rates on, borrowing and deposits by households and businesses. These statistics are used by the Bank’s policy committees to understand economic trends and developments in the banking system.
For the first time since August 2020, consumers borrowed more as consumer credit than they paid off in May. Net borrowing was £0.3 billion.
