FCA updates Brexit webpage with data protection guidance

Regulatory Updates | 17/10/19

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has updated its Brexit preparation guidance webpage with information on the current state of play under the Data Protection, Privacy and Electronic Communications (Amendments etc) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019. The FCA says that the government has taken action to ensure that, if there is a ‘no-deal’ Brexit scenario, UK firms will still be legally able to send personal data from the UK to the EEA and the 13 countries deemed adequate by EU data protection law. The FCA notes, however, that the position on the transfer of personal data from the EEA to the UK remains unclear.
