European Data Protection Board—protecting personal data in context of PSD2

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has published a detailed letter to Sophie in’t Veld MEP, clarifying a number of issues related to the protection of personal data in the context of the second Payment Services Directive (PSD2). The EDPB answers questions raised by Ms in ‘t Veld on:
• ‘silent party data’ by third party providers
• the procedures with regard to giving and withdrawing consent
• the regulatory technical standards
• the co-operation between banks and the European Commission
• what remains to be done to close any remaining data protection gaps
• the European Data Protection Supervisor
