COVID-19: FCA and PSR update on access to cash

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) have published further information on their joint work to map access to cash, and how it will shape their future work in the area. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic the regulators have been collaborating with industry to establish a database of the UK’s cash access points, in order to monitor the emergence of cash ‘cold spots’ and coordinate the industry response to ensure that vulnerable and self-isolating individuals can continue to access cash. The press release reaffirms that ensuring access to cash is a priority for the FCA and the PSR, and that the development of these needs and characteristics will be a key part of their long term work on the subject.
