BoE Money and Credit Statistics: February

The Bank of England has published its Money and Credit Statistics for the month of February. The key figures highlight that:

• Consumers borrowed an additional £1.4 billion in consumer credit in February, compared with £1.7 billion borrowed during January
• The £1.4billion figure was split between £0.6 billion of borrowing on credit cards and £0.8 billion of borrowing through other forms of consumer credit
• Net mortgage approvals for house purchases increased to 43,500 in February, from 39,600 in January.
