BoE chief economist predicts rebound in the economy

Bank of England Chief Economist Andy Haldane has predicted a rebound in the economy. Mr Haldane says that unlike past recessions, many UK households have strengthened their finances significantly due to forced restriction on their spending.

He writes that a combination of household, company, and government spending in the spring will mean the UK is “firing on all three cylinders”, and while the economy is shrinking today and inflation is below target, a year from now annual growth “could be in double-digits and inflation back on target.”
