Bank of England base rate hiked again

As was widely published last week, the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) announced that the base rate of interest had been increased from 4.5% to 5%. In their decision meeting held on 21st June, seven of the nine voting members voted to increase the rate by 0.5%. Two members had voted to retain the rate at 4.5%.
