All Party Parliamentary Group calls for reforms on whistleblowing

Industry News | 19/07/19

The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Whistleblowing has published a report addressing current legislation on the subject, and giving recommendations based on analysis of over 400 pieces of evidence. Those giving evidence in the report called for reforms to the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998, which they say fails in many cases to protect the whistleblower. As part of its ’10 point plan,’ the APPG recommends giving ‘whistleblower’ a legal definition that includes reporting on the violation of integrity and ethics, even when this is not illegal.
