New poll data from debt charity, StepChange, has revealed that 45% of mortgage holders are struggling to keep up with their credit commitments and household bills. This equates to 6.9 million UK adults. The figures reveal that 40% of mortgage holders are showing at least one sign of financial difficulty, while one in ten (10%) mortgage holders are estimated to be in problem debt. StepChange CEO, Vikki Brownridge, said that many are facing an approximate £300 jump in monthly payments for a typical sized mortgage now compared to before September 2022.
